Saturday Synopsis
Final ‘Saturday Synopsis' Of Term
This will be the final Saturday Synopsis until we start back in September. Thank you for a fabulous term. I’ve been lucky enough always to enjoy what I do and I’m so happy to be continuing this well trodden path of fun with Pop Club Choir. You folks are an absolute pleasure to sing with and I count myself as very lucky to be able to stand up in front of you every week and wave my arms around.
Today (Friday, as I type this) I've tidied up some long-neglected admin and reminded some of my friends that I exist but I've not forgotten that I owe you all a recap video for Sunshine On Leith. It's on the list for next week so expect to see that soon. In the meantime, do take a look at the Rehearsal Videos for Sunshine On Leith which you'll find in the Player as usual.
For those not familiar with the system, the Player is where you'll find videos and audio that you can play directly from the website. In the Rescources section you'll find PDFs (scores, lyrics etc) and audio as I know lots of you like to download things to your device. Once the App is ready to go, you'll be able to play audio and video offline (that is, without an internet connection which will hopefully be a great improvement. All that is a long way of saying that video is only available in the Player
Gigs and Songs
We'll getting all this term's songs into the gig set list across the summer. As always, check the details of the gig by clicking on the date in the Calendar.
As you know, there’s plenty going on across the summer too.
I’m very grateful to Kim who will be running a fortnightly Sing-Song at Fornham (near Bury St Edmunds) and to Tallulah who will be doing the same on the alternate week in Ipswich. It's been so nice having Tallulah with us these past weeks. She will be back. As the song says, "Don't know where, don't know when..." but you've not seen the last of her, we promise.
As for the Sing-Songs, we’re calling it Pop Club Choir Unsupervised and you’ll find details in the Socials section of the Calendar
No teaching and no me at these sessions! It’s meant to be a fun opportunity to do some singing and I know you’ll be in safe hands with Kim and Tallulah. I may pop in occasionally so you don’t forget me.
Sadly the finances don't really allow for doing something at Bungay. Hopefully some of you might be dragged, kicking and screaming, to the Ipswich or Bury/Fornham Sing-Songs.
Please make sure you let us know if you're coming to any Sing-Songs by signing up, just as you would for gigs, in the Calendar.
Picnic and Barbecue
Also this summer, we have our Summer Picnic and Barbecue on Sunday 26th July. We’ll be hosts of Thetford choir at our regular Thetford venue, Thetford Town Cricket Club, Mundford Rd, Thetford IP24 1NB.
Everyone is welcome (other halves, friends, family etc) and we’ll doing karaoke, games and of course a good old Pop Club Choir sing song! The event runs from 2pm to 5pm and you can get your tickets from opclubchoir.uk/shop
I’m hoping to get away for a couple of weeks in July so may be offline for a while so don’t panic if I don’t respond quite a promptly as usual. I’ll be back in plenty of time for the Summer Picnic and Barbecue so I look forward to seeing plenty of you there!
I’ll be taking the laptop with me so I can finish the arrangements for next term’s songs. I’m working on the principle that it’s not work if you’re doing it in la belle France!
And then, come August and September, we’ll be back to it with some gigs, and term starts again on Monday 21st September.
Price Rise
I mentioned in my last Saturday Synopsis that prices will be going up a smidgeon in September. Costs have risen quite a bit since we started back in 2024. For yearly membership it currently works out at £5 per rehearsal that’ll go up to £7 (and £6/£8 if you prefer termly).
However, as always, I’d hate money to be the reason people don’t come and sing so if you’re struggling, just give me a shout and I’ll send you a discount code so you can continue to enjoy the old rate for a little while longer.
On top of that, you’re very welcome to renew early, at the current price, even if your membership doesn’t expire for some time. Feel free to purchase another term (or year) before 1st September and that’ll be added on to your current membership.
Term Dates and Questionnaire
I’ll be getting a new Questionnaire out to you all soon. It’ll be online as per last time. It make it really easy to analyse if it comes in electronically, but if you’re not a lover of tech just let me know and I’ll send you a PDF version to print out and fill in. Hey, you could even post it back to me!
There are lots of exciting things in the pipeline – some for next next term and some for 2027. I think you know that I’m always looking for ways to make it better. So, aside from the Questionnaire, if you have any ideas, thoughts, suggestions or, heaven forfend, gripes, then feel to drop me a line in the normal way.
Have a fab summer everyone.
