Saturday Synopsis
Half Term
First a reminder that we’re on “half-term” next week so no choir rehearsals. Lots of gigs coming up this weekend though, so do sign up for those in the Calendar if you’re able.
Rehearsal videos for the first two weeks of I Will Wait What Is Love are up at http://popclubchoir.uk/player and you’ll find Version 3 of the Lyrics Sheet on the resources page if you want to be completely up to date. No real need to print it out a second time – there are only a couple of very small changes from the first version.
We start back week commencing 1st June and we’ll do another couple of weeks on our current song before finishing the term with Sunshine On Leith. Details of what else we’ll be covering will be in the Calendar very soon, including details of the next Hot Hopeful and some kind of cryptic clue about the warm up.
Get Your Steps In
We tried out the aerobics steps idea last week. Mixed reviews, I’d say. Some people loved it, others were less keen. One enterprising Ipswich member even brought a step to the rehearsal this week. So, if you'll pardon the pun, I think the idea has legs. It just needs a bit more thought.
I’ll keeping assessing available options before I make a product recommendation, but in the meantime, if you have a small step that you’d like to bring along to gigs (or rehearsals for that matter) then by all means do so. The usual caveats apply: please don’t do anything that is unsafe, either at gigs or at rehearsals whether that’s for yourself or of course, for other people.
Summer Picnic Sunday 26th July
Tickets for this year’s Summer Picnic are now on sale at https://popclubchoir.uk/shop priced at £6. If you order before the end of May you can use the code “EARLYBIRD” for £1 off each ticket.
The event will be taking place at our Thetford venue, Thetford Town Cricket Club, Mundford Rd, Thetford IP24 1NB and the event runs from 2pm to 5pm.
There'll be the opportunity to show off your karaoke skills, there'll be games, a raffle – and of course a good old Pop Club Choir sing song! There are picnic benches for the early arrivers, but bring rugs, or camping chairs. And the bar will be open!
And of course, don't forget to bring your picnic.
Everyone is welcome (other halves, friends, family etc). It’s a great opportunity to get to know people across all four choirs locations, to relax and enjoy a wonderful afternoon. One of my favourite events of the Pop Club Choir Calendar.
St Elizabeth Hospice
Thank you to the wonderful people who showed up for the Midnight Walk for St Elizabeth Hospice. I've just this second discovered that the "contents" of the Dinosaur was the brother of a friend of mine! More importantly, I've had a lovely email from James Fox-Golding, the Events and Challenges Manager at the Hospice.
“Now that the dust has settled, we’ve all had a chance to catch our breath and pack away the hero capes, I wanted to reach out and say a huge, heartfelt thank you to Pop Club Choir for your support at the Midnight Walk.
Events of this scale simply cannot happen without the dedication, professionalism, and energy of our incredible suppliers and artists. Thanks to your hard work behind the scenes and on the day, everything ran beautifully and our superheroes had an unforgettable experience.
Because of your contribution to the event's success, I am absolutely thrilled to share some amazing news: we had over 1,000 people register to take part, and we have already raised over £100,000—with even more funds still rolling in!
This incredible total will make a massive difference to our work, and you played a vital role in making it happen.
We love working with you and hope you enjoyed being a part of the day as much as we enjoyed having you there. We will be in touch soon regarding future events, but in the meantime, please pass on our thanks to your entire team.”
I think we can safely say, ticks in all boxes!
