Saturday Synopsis
Welcome Back
I hope you had a fantastic “half-term” and have enjoyed learning Dreams this week.
As mentioned, the beginning bit of the verse is pretty tricky but I promise you it gets easier. That said, if you can find some time to check out the various resources, that’d be great. By the time you read this I should have a Rehearsal Video up for Dreams available on the Player. Unfortunately, I had a bit of a microphone malfunction so the audio is not quite up to the usual standard but hopefully it'll be useful nevertheless.
These videos are filmed at rehearsal and with them I aim to give you a way of catching up with the teaching in a full choir context. I’ll be continuing to publish the Recap Videos which, as before, will be taught on a per voice part basis.
And in case you missed last week’s Saturday Synopsis all video now lives on the Player (rather than the Resources page) at popclubchoir.uk/player
Thetford Are On The Move
We’ve loved being at Croxton and I really hope we’ll be able to continue our strong association with the village. However, from the beginning of next term (Thursday 23rd April 2026) our Thetford Choir will have a new home, a mile or so down the road, at Thetford Town Cricket Club, Mundford Rd, Thetford IP24 1NB.
Many of you will know it as the location of the All Out Festival where we’ve now sung a couple of times. There’s loads of parking and being a little closer to Thetford itself will make it a little easier for new members to get to. We’ll also be holding our Summer Picnic there at the end of July as well as performing a welcome gig on Saturday 18th April.
Gigs, More Gigs (and fewer gigs)
A great performance from everyone at our first gig of the year. Thank you. I hope you enjoyed our set and also singing with the fabulous, Harry Isaac Presley.
Hopefully you’ve all seen that our performances at Thetford Wellbeing Fayre (14th April) and the Suffolk Mind Festival (15th August) are no longer going ahead. The first one is my fault (sorry) and the second one is not.
However, there are oodles more gigs in the diary now including old favourites such as Sproughton Beer Festival (10th May), Midnight Walk (16th May) and the always popular All Saints Church, Croxton (13th December) and new bookings such as the Motorhome Fun Rally (22nd May), Brandon Pride (13th June) and Thetford Christmas Lights (27th November).
Please sign up as usual in the Calendar at popclubchoir.uk/calendar
Socials
I’m very much looking forward to our big Spring Quiz on Saturday 18th April. Tickets are just £6 per person and all are welcome (friends, family, people you once met…) and you can grab those at popclubchoir.uk/shop
We’re suggesting teams of around six people so by all means organise yourself into teams, or just bowl up and we’ll organise you into a team on the night.
It’s taking place at New Green Centre, New Green Avenue, Thurston, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk IP31 3TG. The bar will be open and you’re invited to bring nibbles for your table!
A huge thank you to Elaine from our Ipswich choir who is running a Glass Painting event at Fornham St Martin Village Hall (near Bury St Edmunds) on Saturday 28th March. After the success of Elaine’s Wreath Making events at Christmas, I’m sure this will be a lot of fun. Capacity is limited to 15 so do please book in now, as usual in the Calendar at popclubchoir.uk/calendar
