Saturday Synopsis
Another week and we’ll have One Last Time complete. In honesty, we could have whizzed through it in a couple of sessions but, given that we’re also singing it on Saturday 14th February at Ipswich Sports Club with Elvis, I think it’s worth taking it nice and slowly.
If you haven’t already done so, please sign up for this, our first gig of the year. It promises to be a fun one. We’ll be singing from 7.30pm to 8.30pm and Simon/Elvis will be joining us for Proud Mary and of course, Burning Love.
Head to https://popclubchoir.uk/calendar to sign up!
Quiz Night - Saturday 18th April
Tickets are now on sale for our Quiz Night. Will last year’s winners triumph again? Will Helen repeat the “humming round” and many more questions.
Doors open 7pm Quiz starts 7.30pm
The venue is the same as last year, The New Green Centre in Thurston, Bury St Edmunds IP31 3TG.
Ticket are available from https://popclubchoir.uk/shop
Videos
I’m moved all the videos to the player page at https://popclubchoir.uk/player so they’re no longer in the Resources. Hopefully that will work for most people but if you’re keen to have the files to play on your own devices then do drop me a line and I can send them to you.
Video files tend to be pretty hefty so can take a while to download fully. The player grabs what it needs as it goes along so it should hopefully be a more pleasant viewing experience.
You may have spotted the new Rehearsal Videos on the site. These will be in addition to the Recap Videos and the idea is to provide a resource for people who miss the rehearsal but want to hear the teaching of all parts in context. I’m expecting enterprising groups of mixed voices to get together to re-create rehearsals! LOL.
Tallulah
Many of you will now have met my younger daughter Tallulah. She will be helping me out for the next couple of terms before heading off to university in September. Thank you for making her feel so welcome and for being so supportive of her whilst she gets to grips with things.
Tallulah will be conducting a few songs, checking you in and sitting with different sections to help with any bits that aren’t clear.
We’re hoping we might also be able to do some “sectional” rehearsals, that get all of one voice part together (for example) before the main rehearsal starts and just concentrate on your part for half an hour. It’s a “plan in progress” at the moment.
Tech Monday
Kim has kindly agreed to do another technical session at Bury on Monday 9th February so do come along with you phone, iPad or laptop and any queries you may have about the website. There are still quite a few of you who’ve not uploaded a photo. It is of course not compulsory but it is really helpful to me, and will be even more helpful to Tallulah. She’s keen to connect faces to names.
Gigs, Gigs, Gigs
Gigs are coming in thick and fast. As usual, the place to find these is https://popclubchoir.uk/calendar and then hit Gigs.
There are some old favourites and some new ones. Recent additions include Run Norwich, Thetford Christmas Lights and a return to the Beccles Food Festival.
